SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Richard Reed "Dick" Andress of
4Pittsfield, who passed away on November 23, 2015; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Dick Andress was born in Rockford on October 29,
61935 to Reed and Dorothy Tripp Andress; he graduated from West
7Rockford High School and enlisted in the United States Army in
81954, during the Korean conflict, earning the rank of Sergeant
9upon his discharge in 1956; in 1960, he graduated from the
10University of Illinois with a degree in dairy science and
11operated a dairy farm outside of St. Charles; he married Rita
12Barber on September 8, 1975 in Hannibal, Missouri; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Dick Andress worked as a salesman for over 18
14years at Armour Fertilizer and Chemical, now known as US Steel
15Agri Chemicals, leaving the company in 1982; he later worked
16for Duesterhaus Fertilizer and Chemical Co. of Quincy for 16
17years and for Crop Production Services, retiring in 2009; in
18the mid 1970s he owned and operated the Pike Marine Boat Store
19in Pittsfield, Equipment Leasing, and Andress Real Estate and
20Rental Properties; and
 
21    WHEREAS, Dick Andress attended Calvary Baptist Church in
22Pittsfield and was a member of the National Rifle Association

1and Pittsfield American Legion Post No. 152; in his earlier
2years, he was a Cub Master for Pack 18; in 1973, he built a
3cabin on the Illinois River where many memories were made
4boating and spending time with the family; he attended many
5Saukee football games with his buddies, always standing and
6watching the game from the big rock at the PHS football
7stadium; spending time with his family was important to him and
8he enjoyed the times spent with his family watching football
9games at home; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Dick Andress was preceded in death by his parents
11and his son, Kent Andress; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Dick Andress is survived by his wife, Rita; his
13son, Scott (Anita) Andress; his daughter, Kristin Andress;
14Teresa (Reggie) Kunzeman and James (Kim) Lanhum; his
15grandchildren, Christopher Lanhum, Evan (Kimber) Ralph,
16Candice (fiance, Seth Daniel) Lanhum, Bryce Frieden, and Morgan
17Frieden; his 4 great-grandchildren, Dante and Toni Ralph, and
18Bryleigh and Luke Frieden; and his sister, Nancy Weart;
19therefore, be it
 
20    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
21ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
22Richard Reed "Dick" Andress, and extend our sincere condolences
23to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be
