SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Clifford B. Kiefer of Urbana, who passed away on November 6, 2015; and

WHEREAS, Clifford Kiefer was born on December 31, 1922 in Foosland; his parents were George and Bertha (nee Hopkins) Kiefer; he married Shirley M. Anderson on January 2, 1949; and

WHEREAS, Clifford Kiefer grew up in Fisher and graduated from Fisher High School; he later served with the United States Army in the European Theater during World War II, participating in the Central Europe Campaign; he left active service as a private first class, subsequently attaining the rank of sergeant in the United States Army Reserve; and

WHEREAS, Clifford Kiefer worked for the Illinois Department of Human Services' Division of Mental Health for many years until his retirement; he was also an elder of his church and played a leadership role in the Supportive Families for the Mentally Ill; and

WHEREAS, Clifford Kiefer enjoyed mystery novels and crossword puzzles; and

WHEREAS, Clifford Kiefer was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Shirley; his infant son; his brother; and his sister; and

WHEREAS, Clifford Kiefer is survived by his son, Jerry; his daughter, Susan; and his sister, Betty Kirby; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his family and friends, mourn the passing of Clifford B. Kiefer; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Clifford Kiefer as an expression of our sympathy.
