SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Jimmy D. "Snapper" Knapp of Metamora, who passed away on November 18, 2015; and

WHEREAS, Jimmy Knapp was born in Woodward, Oklahoma on February 12, 1941 to YuVonne O. and Mescal A. (Huen) Knapp; he served in the United States Army from 1963 to 1965; he married Janice F. Carrico in Paducah, Kentucky on November 26, 1966; and

WHEREAS, Jimmy Knapp worked as a structural ironworker and was an assistant business agent for 35 years with Local 112 in East Peoria before retiring in 2001; and

WHEREAS, Jimmy Knapp attended auctioneer school in Iowa; he donated his time to Ducks Unlimited and the Mennonite Relief Sale; he was also an announcer at various events over the years, including the Illinois State Fair, the Heart of Illinois Fair, horse shows, horse races, and truck and tractor pulls; he was a member of Hilton Masonic Lodge 1143 AF & AM, Scottish Rites Bodies, Valley of Peoria, and the Mohamed Shrine Temple; he earned his private pilot's license in the late 1960s; and

WHEREAS, Jimmy Knapp was preceded in death by his sister, Marilyn Prokop, and his half-brother, Don Lutz; and

WHEREAS, Jimmy Knapp is survived by his wife, Janice; his 2 daughters, Kimberly (Thomas) Dempsey and Shawna (Kevin) Collins; his granddaughter, Cadence Dempsey; and his 2 half-brothers, W.R. Lutz and Jake Lutz; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Jimmy D. "Snapper" Knapp, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Jimmy Knapp as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
