SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Harold Joseph Thomeczek, Sr. of Godfrey, who passed away on November 22, 2015; and

WHEREAS, Harold Thomeczek, Sr. was born in Trenton on April 6, 1933 to Roman "Tommy" and Anne G. (Cassler) Thomeczek; he played football for the University of Missouri and was drafted by the NFL, but chose to serve his country in the United States Air Force; he married Judy Nance on May 2, 1958 in Sacramento, California; and

WHEREAS, Harold Thomeczek, Sr. retired as the owner of the Thomeczek Oil Company and Pit Stop Corporation; he served on the Board of Directors for the OSF St. Anthony's and Lewis and Clark Community College Foundations; and

WHEREAS, Harold Thomeczek, Sr. was a member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Godfrey; and

WHEREAS, Harold Thomeczek, Sr. was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Judy; his 2 sons, Thomas Michael Thomeczek and Harold J. Thomeczek, Jr.; and his brother, Raymond Thomeczek; and

WHEREAS, Harold Thomeczek, Sr. is survived by his 3 daughters, Mary Anna (Kent) Newcomb, Georgia (Greg) Adams, and Monica Thomeczek Meyer; his son, Daniel R. (Jodie) Thomeczek; his 11 grandchildren, Andrew, Maddie, and Abby Newcomb, Karra, Nyssa, and Kynlee Adams, and Roman, Owen, Addison, Caleb, and Drew Thomeczek; and his 2 sisters, Jean Hauck and Barbara Kimball; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Harold Joseph Thomeczek, Sr., and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Harold Thomeczek, Sr. as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
