SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Julian "Mike" Serzynski, who passed away on October 24, 2015; and

WHEREAS, Julian Serzynski was born on February 5, 1926 in North Chicago; his parents were Casimir and Mary Serzynski; he attended Holy Rosary Catholic Grade School and Waukegan High School; and

WHEREAS, Julian Serzynski served his country in the United States Armed Forces during World War II and was honorably discharged in 1946; while serving, he was awarded the Victory Medal, the American Area Ribbon, and the Asiatic Pacific Ribbon with one star; and

WHEREAS, Julian Serzynski was employed at US Steel, where he retired after 33 years in the tempering department; following his retirement, he worked in the garden shop at K-Mart in Waukegan; while there, he was awarded associate of the month and employee of the year; and

WHEREAS, Julian Serzynski was a member of St. Anastasia Church and volunteered there for 20 years, helping with bingo; he was also a member of the Holy Child Father's Club, the Waukegan Moose Club, American Legion Post 281, the VFW, St. Joe's Club of North Chicago, and the Swedish Glee Club; and

WHEREAS, Julian Serzynski enjoyed fishing, bowling, golf, and watching the Chicago Cubs and Cleveland Browns; and

WHEREAS, Julian Serzynski was preceded in death by his wife, Anna (nee Bollmeyer); his parents; his brothers, John, Alex, Casimir, Stanley, Paul, Joseph, and Aloysius; and his sister, Dorothy Tutino; and

WHEREAS, Julian Serzynski is survived by his children, Mary Katherine (Dave) Jouppi, Julie Anne (Richard) Zagorski, Paula Jean (Geoffrey) DeLucca, and Michael Henry; his grandchildren, Gregory (Kristin) Jouppi, Erin (Justin) Ranieri, Kristen Jouppi, James, Russell, Matthew, and Elijah Zagorski, and Nicholas DeLucca; his great-grandchildren, Anthony Joseph and Gabriella Judith Ranieri; and his brother, Peter Serzynski; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his family and friends, mourn the passing of Julian "Mike" Serzynski; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Julian Serzynski as an expression of our sympathy.
