SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Julian "Mike" Serzynski, who passed away
4on October 24, 2015; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Julian Serzynski was born on February 5, 1926 in
6North Chicago; his parents were Casimir and Mary Serzynski; he
7attended Holy Rosary Catholic Grade School and Waukegan High
8School; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Julian Serzynski served his country in the United
10States Armed Forces during World War II and was honorably
11discharged in 1946; while serving, he was awarded the Victory
12Medal, the American Area Ribbon, and the Asiatic Pacific Ribbon
13with one star; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Julian Serzynski was employed at US Steel, where
15he retired after 33 years in the tempering department;
16following his retirement, he worked in the garden shop at
17K-Mart in Waukegan; while there, he was awarded associate of
18the month and employee of the year; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Julian Serzynski was a member of St. Anastasia
20Church and volunteered there for 20 years, helping with bingo;
21he was also a member of the Holy Child Father's Club, the

1Waukegan Moose Club, American Legion Post 281, the VFW, St.
2Joe's Club of North Chicago, and the Swedish Glee Club; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Julian Serzynski enjoyed fishing, bowling, golf,
4and watching the Chicago Cubs and Cleveland Browns; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Julian Serzynski was preceded in death by his
6wife, Anna (nee Bollmeyer); his parents; his brothers, John,
7Alex, Casimir, Stanley, Paul, Joseph, and Aloysius; and his
8sister, Dorothy Tutino; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Julian Serzynski is survived by his children, Mary
10Katherine (Dave) Jouppi, Julie Anne (Richard) Zagorski, Paula
11Jean (Geoffrey) DeLucca, and Michael Henry; his grandchildren,
12Gregory (Kristin) Jouppi, Erin (Justin) Ranieri, Kristen
13Jouppi, James, Russell, Matthew, and Elijah Zagorski, and
14Nicholas DeLucca; his great-grandchildren, Anthony Joseph and
15Gabriella Judith Ranieri; and his brother, Peter Serzynski;
16therefore, be it
 
17    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
18ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his
19family and friends, mourn the passing of Julian "Mike"
20Serzynski; and be it further
 
21    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
