SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Betty Jean Harris, who passed away on
4January 3, 2015; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Betty Harris was born on February 25, 1941 to
6Dolan and Bernice Chapple; she graduated from Cotton Plant
7Vocational School and married John Lee Harris in 1959; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Betty Harris was a member of St. Sabina Church for
9over 40 years; she enjoyed shopping, crossword puzzles,
10reading, gospel music, and attending adult education classes;
11and
 
12    WHEREAS, Betty Harris was preceded in death by her parents;
13her brothers, David Chapple, Dolan Chapple, Jr., Rev. Howard
14Chapple, Fred Chapple, and Willie Chapple; and her sister,
15Helen Key; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Betty Harris is survived by her husband of 55
17years, John; her children, John Lee Harris, Jr. (Valerie),
18Kimberly Harris, and Kelwin Harris; her grandson, Frederick
19Moore, Jr.; her brothers, Rufus Chapple (Deltis) and Harold
20Chapple (Lenora); her 4 sisters, Barbara Chapple, Frenchelle
21Conley (Dennis), Phyllis Berts (Phillip), and Alice Chapple;

1and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends;
2therefore, be it
 
3    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
4ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
5Betty Jean Harris, and extend our sincere condolences to her
6family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
7further
 
8    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
9presented to the family of Betty Harris as an expression of our
10deepest sympathy.
