SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Betty Jean Harris, who passed away on January 3, 2015; and

WHEREAS, Betty Harris was born on February 25, 1941 to Dolan and Bernice Chapple; she graduated from Cotton Plant Vocational School and married John Lee Harris in 1959; and

WHEREAS, Betty Harris was a member of St. Sabina Church for over 40 years; she enjoyed shopping, crossword puzzles, reading, gospel music, and attending adult education classes; and

WHEREAS, Betty Harris was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, David Chapple, Dolan Chapple, Jr., Rev. Howard Chapple, Fred Chapple, and Willie Chapple; and her sister, Helen Key; and

WHEREAS, Betty Harris is survived by her husband of 55 years, John; her children, John Lee Harris, Jr. (Valerie), Kimberly Harris, and Kelwin Harris; her grandson, Frederick Moore, Jr.; her brothers, Rufus Chapple (Deltis) and Harold Chapple (Lenora); her 4 sisters, Barbara Chapple, Frenchelle Conley (Dennis), Phyllis Berts (Phillip), and Alice Chapple; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Betty Jean Harris, and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Betty Harris as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
