SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Richard Harvey "Dick" Schultz of
4Waukegan, who passed away on October 15, 2015; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Dick Schultz was born in Paris Corners, Wisconsin
6on September 21, 1928; his family later settled in North
7Chicago, where he was raised; he graduated from Waukegan High
8School in 1946 and enlisted in the United States Army, serving
9as a T4 Sergeant and as a personal chauffeur to Colonel Gillet
10during peacetime in Korea; he attended the Art Institute of
11Chicago on his GI bill and married Gloriette M. Peterson on
12August 5, 1950 at Christian Catholic Church in Zion; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Dick Schultz was employed by NOSCO, retiring in
141993, just short of 41 years of service; using his artistic
15talent, he designed NOSCO's "N" logo, a variation of which is
16still used today; he and his wife raised their family in North
17Chicago until they moved to Waukegan in 1969, where they
18established Gloriette Bridal & Boutique; he was proudly known
19as "Mr. Gloriette"; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Dick Schultz enjoyed reproducing his artwork onto
21notecards and sharing them with people; he was a member of the
22Lake County Art League; and

1    WHEREAS, Dick Schultz was preceded in death by his son,
2Gary Schultz; his parents, Fred and Katherine Schultz; his
3father-in-law and mother-in-law, Edwin and Mary Peterson; his
4brothers-in-law, Jack Worth and Bob Epker; and his nephew Jim
5Worth; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Dick Schultz is survived by his wife of 65 years,
7Gloriette; his daughter, Ardith (Gary) Laine; his sons, Fred
8Schultz and Dr. Richard (Debra) Schultz; his grandchildren,
9Nikolas (Tiffany McBride) Schultz, Matthew Laine, and Paige and
10Fallon Schultz; his siblings, John (Evelyn) Schultz, Marie
11Worth, and Bill (Doris) Schultz; his sisters-in-law, Bonnie
12Epker and Rosemary (Al) Brean; his brother-in-law, Eric
13Peterson; and a host of nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
 
14    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
15ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
16Richard Harvey "Dick" Schultz, and extend our sincere
17condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved
18him; and be it further
 
19    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
20presented to the family of Dick Schultz as an expression of our
21deepest sympathy.
