SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Marjorie J. Deakin of Cuba, who passed away on October 12, 2015; and

WHEREAS, Marjorie Deakin was born in Bernadotte Township on June 26, 1922 to William and Loreine (nee McCaughey) Hamm; she married Alan L. Deakin on August 14, 1941 in Bowling Green, Missouri; and

WHEREAS, Marjorie Deakin was a homemaker; and

WHEREAS, Marjorie Deakin was a 60-year member of the Cuba United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday school for 50 years; her other memberships included the Order of Eastern Star, Jobs Daughters, the Cuba Senior Women's Club, Royal Neighbors, and the Friendly Neighbors Club; she was also a former 4-H Leader and served on the board of directors for the Community Concert Association; she enjoyed playing cards and playing the piano by ear; and

WHEREAS, Marjorie Deakin was preceded in death by her husband, Alan; her parents; her 4 brothers; her 3 sisters; and her step-grandson; and

WHEREAS, Marjorie Deakin is survived by her 3 children, Reita (David) Harn, Garrett (Kathy) Deakin, and Greg (Debora) Deakin; her 6 grandchildren, Amy Deakin, Emily Harmony, Kristina Hurley, Rachel Lyons, Tiffany Deakin, and Colin Deakin; her 7 step-grandchildren; and her 6 great-grandchildren; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Marjorie J. Deakin, and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Marjorie Deakin as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
