SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Timothy Lee "Tim" Ruddy of Normal, who passed away on October 1, 2015; and

WHEREAS, Tim Ruddy was born in Joliet on November 1, 1947 to Raymond and Anna Mae Ostrem Ruddy; he graduated from Marmion Academy, a military high school in Aurora; he attended the University of South Carolina for his undergraduate degree and Northern Illinois University for his master's degree; and

WHEREAS, Tim Ruddy became a professor of political science; he joined the staff of Illinois State University in the late 1980s; and

WHEREAS, Tim Ruddy enjoyed listening to Otis Redding, watching Casablanca (or any Bogart film), satisfying his sweet tooth, and taking in his daily dose of politics; and

WHEREAS, Tim Ruddy was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Richard Ruddy; and

WHEREAS, Tim Ruddy is survived by his sister, Marianne (Don) Brooks; his children, Emily Woods, Ryan (Tara) Ruddy, and Erin (Caleb Castillo) Ruddy; his 3 stepdaughters, Victoria (Doug Pride) Van Kirk, Heather (Joseph) Summers, and Kara (David) Levin; and his 8 grandchildren, Dylan, Madelyn, Finley, Jeremiah, Isaac, Vivienne, Max, and Henry; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Timothy Lee "Tim" Ruddy, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Tim Ruddy as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
