SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Raymond "Ray" Joseph Szostak of Gurnee, who passed away on September 15, 2015; and

WHEREAS, Raymond Szostak was born on August 15, 1928 in North Chicago; his parents were Francis and Mary (nee Wrona) Szostak; he was a resident of North Chicago until he moved to Gurnee in 1985; he married Lillian (nee Dorband) on May 20, 1950 at the Holy Family Church in North Chicago; and

WHEREAS, Raymond Szostak attended Holy Rosary School in North Chicago and graduated from Waukegan High School in 1946; and

WHEREAS, Raymond Szostak served in the United States Army from 1955 to 1957; and

WHEREAS, Raymond Szostak began his career at the Chicago Hardware Foundry in North Chicago before working at Johnson Motors/Outboard Marine, where he retired after 25 years of service; and

WHEREAS, Raymond Szostak was affiliated with Holy Family Church and then with St. Patrick's in Wadsworth; he was also a volunteer with Habitat for Humanity and at soup kitchens in Waukegan for many years; and

WHEREAS, Raymond Szostak was preceded in death by his brothers, Larry, Edward, and Charles, and his parents; and

WHEREAS, Raymond Szostak is survived by his wife, Lillian; his sons, Michael (Anne), David (Janet), Martin (Mary), Gerry (Bernice), Steven (Dawn), and Tim (Maureen); his grandchildren, Jonathan (Maria), David (Karly), Cali (Josh), Charles, Laura, Frances, Donna, Peter, Alicia, Justine, Mathew, Nicole, Jeffrey, Adam, Caroline, Amy, and Ellen; his great-grandchildren, Gabriel, Rosemarie, Emily, Joshua, Adelina, Lillianna, Caleb, Davie Jane, and Chase; and his siblings, Jean Belski and George; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his family and friends, mourn the passing of Raymond "Ray" Joseph Szostak; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Raymond Szostak as an expression of our sympathy.
