SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Joseph H. "Joe" Stengele of Manitowish Waters, Wisconsin, formerly of Joliet, who passed away on September 7, 2015; and

WHEREAS, Joe Stengele graduated from Joliet Catholic High School and the University of Notre Dame; and

WHEREAS, Joe Stengele retired from Joliet Warehouse and Transfer in 1990; and

WHEREAS, Joe Stengele was an active member of the Kiwanis Club of Joliet, the Boys and Girls Club of Joliet, the Joliet Chamber of Commerce, and various other organizations; and

WHEREAS, Joe Stengele was an avid golfer, fisherman, and hobbyist, making many toys for the grandkids and great-grandkids; he was an avid fan of the Chicago Bears and Chicago Cubs, once even trying out as a pitcher for the Cubs in the minor leagues; and

WHEREAS, Joe Stengele was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Gladys (nee Hauser), and his brother, John; and

WHEREAS, Joe Stengele is survived by his wife of 62 years, Doris Lea (nee Folkers); his 6 sons, Joseph and Judith (nee Batis), David and Barbara (nee Ramos), Robert and Patricia (nee Kuligoski), Thomas and Katherine (nee Petru), James and Jane (nee Wartenberg), and Lee and Amy (nee Nedjlik); his daughter, Susan (Tim) Dollaske; his 8 grandchildren, Robert (Sharri) Stengele, Eric Stengele, Jackie (Michael) Underwood, James Stengele, John Stengele, Andrew Stengele, Brett Stengele, and Sadie Stengele; his 4 great-grandchildren, Jay Stengele, Makayla and Brooke Stengele, and Genevieve Underwood; and several cousins; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Joseph H. "Joe" Stengele, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Joe Stengele as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
