SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Betty L. Sowders of Alton, who passed
4away on January 19, 2015; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Betty Sowders was born on April 5, 1936 in East
6Alton; her parents were Leto and Tillie (nee Schulze) Iberg;
7she married Rudolph "Rudy" Sowders, Jr. on September 10, 1955
8at the First Baptist Church in East Alton; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Betty Sowders graduated from East Alton-Wood
10River High School in 1954; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Betty Sowders worked part time as a bookkeeper at
12Lester Gentry's Bookkeeping Service for 27 years; she later
13worked as the office manager at the Lockhaven Country Club and
14as the bookkeeper for the family business, Turn 2 Collectibles;
15and
 
16    WHEREAS, Betty Sowders was preceded in death by her
17parents; her husband, Rudolph; 3 sisters, Marcella Iberg, Wilma
18Bizaillion, and Rose Ann Opper; and 4 brothers, Herbert,
19Edward, Donald, and Leslie Iberg; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Betty Sowders is survived by her children and

1their spouses, Rudolph C., III "Rick" and Susan Sowders, John
2and Ellen Sowders, Lisa and Jeff Dublo, Donna Droste, Jerry and
3Donna Sowders, and Mark Sowders; her grandchildren and their
4spouses, David Sowders, Melissa Dublo and Chris Winsel, Joshua
5Droste, Matthew and Victoria Sowders, Jeff and Amanda Dublo,
6Steven and Michele Sowders, Katherine Sowders, Bethany and Dan
7Sanderson, Angela Sowders, Michael Dublo, Cole Sowders,
8Natalie Sowders, Logan Sowders, Matt and Karin Witt; her
9"honorary" grandsons, Casey and Kevin Cox; 6
10great-grandchildren, Jenna and Grant Dublo, Jacob Winsel,
11Ashlyn and Claire Witt, and Olivia Sowders; a sister and
12brother-in-law, Shirley Jean and Michael Bandy; a
13sister-in-law, Elaine Iberg; a brother-in-law, Jim (Nina)
14Bizaillion; and her many nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
 
15    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
16ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with her
17family and friends, mourn the passing of Betty L. Sowders; and
18be it further
 
19    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
20presented to the family of Betty Sowders as an expression of
21our sympathy.
