SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Betty L. Sowders of Alton, who passed away on January 19, 2015; and

WHEREAS, Betty Sowders was born on April 5, 1936 in East Alton; her parents were Leto and Tillie (nee Schulze) Iberg; she married Rudolph "Rudy" Sowders, Jr. on September 10, 1955 at the First Baptist Church in East Alton; and

WHEREAS, Betty Sowders graduated from East Alton-Wood River High School in 1954; and

WHEREAS, Betty Sowders worked part time as a bookkeeper at Lester Gentry's Bookkeeping Service for 27 years; she later worked as the office manager at the Lockhaven Country Club and as the bookkeeper for the family business, Turn 2 Collectibles; and

WHEREAS, Betty Sowders was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Rudolph; 3 sisters, Marcella Iberg, Wilma Bizaillion, and Rose Ann Opper; and 4 brothers, Herbert, Edward, Donald, and Leslie Iberg; and

WHEREAS, Betty Sowders is survived by her children and their spouses, Rudolph C., III "Rick" and Susan Sowders, John and Ellen Sowders, Lisa and Jeff Dublo, Donna Droste, Jerry and Donna Sowders, and Mark Sowders; her grandchildren and their spouses, David Sowders, Melissa Dublo and Chris Winsel, Joshua Droste, Matthew and Victoria Sowders, Jeff and Amanda Dublo, Steven and Michele Sowders, Katherine Sowders, Bethany and Dan Sanderson, Angela Sowders, Michael Dublo, Cole Sowders, Natalie Sowders, Logan Sowders, Matt and Karin Witt; her "honorary" grandsons, Casey and Kevin Cox; 6 great-grandchildren, Jenna and Grant Dublo, Jacob Winsel, Ashlyn and Claire Witt, and Olivia Sowders; a sister and brother-in-law, Shirley Jean and Michael Bandy; a sister-in-law, Elaine Iberg; a brother-in-law, Jim (Nina) Bizaillion; and her many nieces and nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with her family and friends, mourn the passing of Betty L. Sowders; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Betty Sowders as an expression of our sympathy.
