SENATE JOINT RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, President Barack Obama will come to the City of Springfield, Illinois, on Wednesday, February 10, 2016; and

WHEREAS, The President will be in the Capital City while the Ninety-Ninth General Assembly of the State of Illinois is in session; and

WHEREAS, The President served as a member of the Illinois General Assembly from the Ninetieth General Assembly through the Ninety-Third General Assembly, as the Senator representing the Thirteenth Legislative District; and

WHEREAS, The President has been asked, and has agreed, to address a Joint Session of the two Houses; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES CONCURRING HEREIN, that the two Houses invite President Barack Obama to address a Joint Session of this General Assembly; and be it further

RESOLVED, That the two Houses shall convene in a Joint Session on February 10, 2016 at the call of the President of the Senate and Speaker of the House of Representatives, in the Chamber of the House of Representatives, for the purpose of hearing President Barack Obama address the General Assembly; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the President, as a formal expression of this invitation and of the respect and esteem in which he is held by the members of the General Assembly.
