SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:

625 ILCS 5/11-1412.5 new

Amends the Illinois Vehicle Code. Defines "electrically motorized board". Provides that a person shall not operate an electrically motorized board except within a lane designated for bicycles.

A BILL FOR

AN ACT concerning transportation.

Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, represented in the General Assembly:

Section 5. The Illinois Vehicle Code is amended by adding Section 11-1412.5 as follows:

(625 ILCS 5/11-1412.5 new)

Sec. 11-1412.5. Electrically motorized board.

(a) As used in this Section, "electrically motorized board" means any wheeled device, other than an electric personal assistive mobility device, that has a floorboard designed to be stood upon when riding that is not greater than 60 inches deep and 18 inches wide, is designed to transport only one person, and has an electric propulsion system averaging less than 1,000 watts and limits the maximum to speed of the device to 20 miles per hour or less. The device may be designed to also be powered by human propulsion.

(b) A person shall not operate an electrically motorized board except within a lane designated for bicycles.
