SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:

65 ILCS 5/7-1-10.5 new

Amends the Illinois Municipal Code. Provides that before a municipality uses territory annexed under to this Division for sand, rock, or gravel mining operations, the municipality must have approval of all township boards of trustees, by a majority vote of each board, whose township has jurisdiction over all or part of a highway or road within 20 miles of the annexed territory. Effective immediately.

AN ACT concerning local government.

Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, represented in the General Assembly:

Section 5. The Illinois Municipal Code is amended by adding Section 7-1-10.5 as follows:

Sec. 7-1-10.5. Approval of township board. Before a municipality uses territory annexed under to this Division for sand, rock, or gravel mining operations, the municipality must have approval of all township boards of trustees, by a majority vote of each board, whose township has jurisdiction over all or part of a highway or road within 20 miles of the annexed territory.

Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon becoming law.
