HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate Virginia Smith of Ava on being named the 2016 Miss Rodeo Illinois; and

WHEREAS, Virginia Smith was crowned Miss Rodeo Illinois on January 17, 2016 at the World Shooting Complex's Seasons Event Center in Sparta; and

WHEREAS, Virginia Smith will be traveling to rodeo competitions across the State and country as part of her one-year reign as Miss Rodeo Illinois 2016; currently, she is a senior at Southern Illinois University Carbondale, where she is majoring in agribusiness economics; and

WHEREAS, Virginia Smith is representing the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association, headquartered in Colorado Springs, Colorado, the world's largest and oldest rodeo-sanctioning body; and

WHEREAS, In addition to appearing at rodeo events across the country, Virginia Smith will be competing for the title of Miss Rodeo America at a week-long pageant in Las Vegas this November; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Virginia Smith on being named the 2016 Miss Rodeo Illinois and wish her success at the Miss Rodeo America pageant in Las Vegas later this year; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Virginia Smith with our sincerest esteem and respect.
