HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives wish to congratulate Coach Doug Creel of the
4Mt. Vernon Township High School boys basketball team, the Rams,
5on setting a school record with his 272nd win; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Coach Creel has had 2 stints as Rams coach, during
7which time he led the Rams to some of their most successful
8seasons; his first season was the 1995-96 school year; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Starting in 1997, the Rams won 5 straight regional
10titles; 3 times during that stretch, the Rams won at least 25
11games; Coach Creel stepped down from his position after the
122007-08 season; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Coach Creel returned to coaching after a 6-year
14absence; his first season back on the sidelines ended with a
15regional title; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Coach Creel scored his 272nd win, the most in Mt.
17Vernon Township High School boys basketball history, in a game
18against Effingham High School; and
 
19    WHEREAS, The game in which Coach Creel broke the record
20went down to the wire; it ended with 2 free throws in the last

1second of the game to make it a 53 to 51 Rams victory; and
 
2    WHEREAS, The Rams have an overall winning record under
3Coach Creel's leadership; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Coach Creel has devoted an immense amount of time,
5energy, and effort to the Rams program; therefore, be it
 
6    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
7NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
8congratulate Coach Doug Creel of the Mt. Vernon Township High
9School boys basketball team, the Rams, on setting a school
10record with his 272nd win, and we wish him many more successful
11years; and be it further
 
12    RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be
13presented to Coach Doug Creel and the Rams.
