HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to congratulate Ken Bjelland on the occasion of his retirement as Manager of the DeWitt County Farm Bureau on January 31, 2016 after 35 years of service; and

WHEREAS, Since accepting his position in May of 1981, Ken Bjelland has been instrumental in coordinating many DeWitt County Farm Bureau programs, AG in the Classroom events, and 4-H and FFA outreach, as well as bus trips for members around the country; and

WHEREAS, Ken Bjelland has been very active in many community organizations in DeWitt County, such as Kiwanis, the Dewitt County Economic Development Council, where he served as chairman, and numerous others; he was also on the Governor's Rural Development Council in the 1990s and a past chairman of the Clinton Chamber of Commerce; and

WHEREAS, During Ken Bjelland's tenure, there have been many structural changes at the Illinois Farm Bureau that he has helped adapt to the county level; and

WHEREAS, Ken Bjelland serves as a model of hard work, integrity, and dedication for the people of the State of Illinois; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Ken Bjelland on the occasion of his retirement and wish him continued success and happiness in the future; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Ken Bjelland as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
