HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to congratulate Taylor Campos of Lemont on being named one of 2 recipients of the 2015 Wendy's High School Heisman Award; and

WHEREAS, The Wendy's High School Heisman Award program recognizes outstanding students across the country for their athletic prowess, academic achievement, and leadership within their communities; and

WHEREAS, Taylor Campos, a senior at Lemont High School, was the 2015 female recipient of the Wendy's Heisman Award; she is one of only 2 students in Lemont High School history to score a perfect 36 on the ACT and is a National Merit Scholarship semifinalist; she is a 3-time cross country State qualifier, earning All-state honors in 2014; she is a State qualifier in track and field in the 3,200-meter run; she qualified for AP Scholar with Honor designation after taking 4 advanced placement classes as a junior; she is a member of the National Honor Society, the National English Honor Society, and the Mu Alpha Theta Mathematics Honor Society; and

WHEREAS, Taylor Campos is one of just 8 area students to serve on State Representative Jim Durkin's 2015/2016 Youth Council; she has served as the public relations Chairman for her school's Interact Club, dedicates dozens of hours annually to various community service activities, and is a tutor for her school's Special Education/STEM program; and

WHEREAS, Taylor Campos plans on running cross country and track and field at the collegiate level; and

WHEREAS, Taylor Campos received her honor on December 11, 2015 at an awards ceremony in New York City; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Taylor Campos on being named one of 2 recipients of the 2015 Wendy's High School Heisman Award and we wish her the best in all her future endeavors; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Taylor Campos as an expression of our esteem and respect.
