HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives wish to congratulate Taylor Fusinatto on being
4nominated for the 2015 iCon Knowledge Builder Award; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Taylor Fusinatto is currently the middle school
6science teacher and Department Chair at Dr. Bessie Rhodes
7School of Global Studies with Evanston/Skokie School District
865; she is an exceptional teacher who strives to bring science
9to life through real-world connections; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Taylor Fusinatto is constantly seeking to provide
11her students with access to new technologies; she established
12the first Stellar Girls after-school STEM engineering program
13in the district; Stellar Girls introduces girls in grades 3
14through 8 to current, interesting "Big Ideas" in STEM fields;
15through weekly hands-on program activities, girls explore how
16science, technology, engineering, and mathematics are used to
17feed, fuel, heal, and save the world; participants also have
18the opportunity to interact with STEM professionals to learn
19about STEM careers, apply STEM skills to real-world problems,
20and employ critical-thinking skills through collaborative
21inquiry; the program will be entering its third year, engaging
22girls in inquiry-based engineering projects that merge content
23with ingenuity; and

1    WHEREAS, Taylor Fusinatto has worked on educator
2ambassador programs with NASA and the EPA; she has presented on
3nanotechnology labs adapted for middle school students at the
4Illinois State CONNECTIONS conference and on literacy
5strategies in the content areas at the Illinois Reading Council
6Conference; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Taylor Fusinatto participated in a materials
8science and nanotechnology workshop at the University of
9Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and acted as a research assistant
10on a nano-drug delivery system for chemothearputic medicine at
11the University of Illinois at Chicago; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Taylor Fusinatto graduated summa cum laude from
13Loyola University-Chicago; therefore, be it
 
14    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
15NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
16congratulate Taylor Fusinatto on being nominated for the 2015
17iCon Knowledge Builder Award; and be it further
 
18    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
19presented to Taylor Fusinatto as an expression of our esteem
20and respect.
