HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate the employees of the Rock Island Arsenal on receiving the "2015 Best Military Related Blood Drive Coordinator" award; and

WHEREAS, The Rock Island Arsenal has contributed to our national defense for over 150 years; and

WHEREAS, In 1974, the Rock Island Arsenal began doing regular blood drives with the Mississippi Valley Regional Blood Center; and

WHEREAS, The Rock Island Arsenal currently hosts an average of 50 blood drives a year, bringing in over 1,000 blood donations annually; and

WHEREAS, Thanks to the positive influence of the Rock Island Arsenal on the importance of blood donation, several of the contractors on Arsenal Island now host their own blood drives; and

WHEREAS, Because of the high volume of donations the Rock Island Arsenal generates, its employees play a major role in ensuring the community has access to a safe and adequate blood supply; and

WHEREAS, In 2015, Mississippi Valley Regional Blood Center nominated the employees of Rock Island Arsenal as the "Best Military Related Blood Drive Coordinators" in a statewide competition hosted by the Illinois Coalition of Community Blood Centers; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we commend the Rock Island Arsenal employees for their enthusiasm, self-less service and commitment to the community and wish them continued success with their blood collection efforts; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the employees of the Rock Island Arsenal as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
