HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to honor Chicago Police Department Field Training Officer Robert Cavaiani on the occasion of his courageous actions in saving the life of a 62-year-old man in Chicago; and

WHEREAS, Officer Robert Cavaiani was patrolling with Officer Nicholas Picicci near the intersection of Belmont and Austin Avenues in Chicago on November 8, 2015 when they got a call about a medical emergency several blocks away; they raced to the 3100 block of North Marmora Avenue, where they found a family performing CPR on a 62-year-old man on the floor of his bathroom; the man was unresponsive, and the officers were unable to determine any signs of life, a heartbeat, or breathing; and

WHEREAS, Undeterred by the man's physical state, Officers Picicci and Cavaiani began performing CPR; after 5 minutes of CPR, the man's pulse returned; the Chicago Fire Department subsequently transported the man to the nearby Community First Medical Center; and

WHEREAS, The courage, dedication, and coolness under pressure exhibited by Officer Robert Cavaiani is worthy of the greatest respect; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we honor Chicago Police Department Field Training Officer Robert Cavaiani for his courageous actions in saving the life of this man, wish him many happy and healthy years in his upcoming retirement, and wish him great success and happiness in his future endeavors; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Officer Robert Cavaiani as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
