HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Graham
4King, who passed away on November 1, 2015; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Graham King graduated from Morgan Park High School
6and the Virginia Military Institute; he served in the United
7States Army as a Second Lieutenant, enrolling in Airborne
8School and becoming a paratrooper; he received his master's
9degree in business administration from Indiana University; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Graham King started out working in Chicago as a
11top salesman for IBM; he then worked for Shared Medical Systems
12and U.S. Servis, which was later acquired by HBOC and then by
13McKesson, where he remained as President until he retired; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Graham King had a long career of applying
15information technology to healthcare; during his last 5 years
16at McKesson, he was involved in the robotics and pharmaceutical
17areas of his company in an effort to improve patient safety
18through automation, helping develop scanners and wristbands to
19ensure that patients received the right medications; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Graham King enjoyed playing golf at the Merion
21Golf Club in Philadelphia and the Chicago Golf Club in Wheaton;

2    WHEREAS, Graham King is survived by his wife of 49 years,
3Leola; his sons, John and Gregory King; his brother, Robert K.
4King; and his 5 grandchildren; therefore, be it
 
5    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
6NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
7mourn the passing of Graham King, and extend our sincere
8condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved
9him; and be it further
 
10    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
11presented to the family of Graham King as an expression of our
12deepest sympathy.
