HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Rev. Leslie H. Perkins, Sr., who passed away on June 25, 2015; and

WHEREAS, Rev. Perkins was born in Chicago on October 11, 1941; he attended elementary school in Maywood and graduated from Proviso East High School; and

WHEREAS, Rev. Perkins retired from the postal service in January of 2013; and

WHEREAS, Rev. Perkins was an ordained minister under the leadership of Rev. H. McNealty of 1st Baptist Church of Melrose Park over 40 years ago; and

WHEREAS, Rev. Perkins is survived by his wife, the Honorable Mayor Edwenna Perkins; his 3 children, Anita Perkins-Tate, Dr. Thea Perkins, and Leslie Perkins, Jr.; his 2 granddaughters; and his 2 great-grandchildren; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Rev. Leslie H. Perkins, Sr., and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Rev. Perkins as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
