HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives wish to congratulate Mindy McMahon on the
4occasion of her retirement as principal of Madison School in
5District 181 after 23 years; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Mindy McMahon has been the principal at Madison
7School since 1992; from 1991 to 1992, she held an
8Administrative Internship in District 181; from 1989 to 1992,
9she was the District K-8 Social Studies Curriculum Coordinator
10for District 181; from 1986 to 1989, she was the District
11Gifted Coordinator for grades 3-5 in District 108 Highland
12Park; from 1985 to 1986, she was the fifth grade teacher at
13Braeside Elementary in District 108 Highland Park; from 1984 to
141985, she was the Learning Disabilities Teacher and Reading
15Specialist in District 108 Highland Park; from 1980 to 1984,
16she was the fourth grade teacher at Montrose Elementary in
17Bexley, Ohio; and from 1979 to 1980, she was a kindergarten
18teacher at Jasper Elementary in Jeffersonville, Ohio; and
 
19    WHEREAS, During Mindy McMahon's tenure, the United States
20Department of Education presented Madison School with the Blue
21Ribbon Award; in 2014, Betterschools.org listed Madison School
22as one of the Top 50 Public Elementary Schools in the U.S.; in
232014, the Illinois Association for Health, Physical Education,

1Recreation and Dance named Madison School as a Blue Ribbon
2School; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Mindy McMahon earned her Bachelor of Science in
4Elementary Education from Ohio State University in 1979, her
5Master of Arts in Elementary Education from Ohio State
6University in 1983, her Certificate of Advanced Study in
7Curriculum and Instruction from the National College of
8Education in Evanston in 1988, and her Doctoral Studies in
9Instructional Leadership at National Louis University in 1989;
10and
 
11    WHEREAS, Mindy McMahon has worked with the Illinois
12Principals Association, the Midwest Principals Center, Inc.,
13and the Association for Supervision and Curriculum
14Development; she is a member of Phi Delta Kappan; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Mindy McMahon and her husband, Jim, have 2
16children, Paige and Davis; she is a Church Elder for Personnel
17and Worship and a Sunday school teacher; therefore, be it
 
18    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
19NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
20congratulate Mindy McMahon on the occasion of her retirement as
21principal of Madison School in District 181 after 23 years; and
22be it further

1    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
2presented to Mindy McMahon as an expression of our esteem and
3respect.
