HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of WCIA-TV co-anchor Dave Benton; and

WHEREAS, Dave Benton grew up in Addison and received his degree in broadcast journalism from Northern Illinois University; and

WHEREAS, Dave Benton worked in Cedar Rapids, Iowa; Wausau, Wisconsin; and Minot, South Dakota; before joining WCIA in 2005; and

WHEREAS, Dave Benton was devoted to his community; he gave his time and efforts to numerous organizations, most notably Champaign County Crime Stoppers; and

WHEREAS, Dave Benton was a mentor to many young journalists who passed through the WCIA newsroom over the past decade; and

WHEREAS, Dave Benton is survived by his wife, Terri; his children, Matthew and Lauren; and his WCIA family; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of WCIA-TV co-anchor Dave Benton, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Dave Benton as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
