HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to recognize the Milano Bakery on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of its founding; and

WHEREAS, The Milano Bakery was founded in Chicago in 1915 by Mario DeBenedetti, Sr., his sister, Mary, and his brother-in-law, Frank Soffianti; it has been located in Joliet since 1926; and

WHEREAS, The Milano Bakery has been passed down through numerous generations of family members, first from Mario, Sr. to Mario, Jr., and it is now operated by brothers, Mario, III and Darin; and

WHEREAS, Most employees of the Milano Bakery are family members, helping out with pastry baking, wedding cakes, sales, and customer service; and

WHEREAS, The Milano Bakery has survived the Great Depression and other economic downturns throughout the years and continues to thrive after over a century in operation; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we recognize the Milano Bakery on its 100th anniversary and we wish it many more years of success; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the DeBenedetti family as an expression of our esteem and respect.
