HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The Children's Place Association was founded 24
3years ago to provide care to some of the neediest and neglected
4Chicago-area children and families; and
 
5    WHEREAS, The Children's Place Association was among the
6first of social service agencies to develop an extensive menu
7of services, including hospice and preschool for infants and
8toddlers who are HIV/AIDS infected or affected; and
 
9    WHEREAS, The Children's Place Association has developed a
10specialized preschool located in Chicago's Humboldt Park
11neighborhood that includes medical care for over 70 kids whose
12families live in extreme poverty; and
 
13    WHEREAS, The Children's Place Association has developed
14specialized services, including on-site nursing care and a
15residential program for medically complex children; and
 
16    WHEREAS, The Children's Place Association is completing
17the construction of a 13-unit apartment building, located at
18the corner of West Chicago and North Drake Avenues, which is
19dedicated to very-low income families in need of the Children's
20Place Association's housing, medical care, mental health, and
21other services, including those living with HIV/AIDS and other

1disabilities; and
 
2    WHEREAS, The Children's Place Association preschool
3provides an array of supportive services to the children and
4families it serves, such as a full-time pediatric nurse, a
5board-certified pediatric medical director, a registered
6dietitian, child mental health services provided by the
7Juvenile Protection Association, and Children's Place
8Association's bus service to and from preschool; therefore, be
9it
 
10    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
11NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
12recognize and support to the greatest degree possible the
13Children's Place Association in its efforts to serve those
14low-income children and families in need who are affected by
15HIV/AIDS and other serious medical conditions; and be it
16further
 
17    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
18presented to the Children's Place Association as a symbol of
19our respect and esteem.
