HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Kenneth LeRoy Pritz, R.Ph. of Joliet, who passed away on April 12, 2015; and

WHEREAS, Kenneth Pritz was the CEO, President, and pharmacist of J.D. Brown & Company - the oldest drug store in the State of Illinois; he and his wife were co-founders of The Peanut Gallery, The Gift Box, and The Jacob Henry Mansion, where he served as President; and

WHEREAS, Kenneth Pritz served as a Joliet City Councilman; he also worked with The Bicentennial Park, Downtown Development Committee, the Governor of Illinois' Clean and Beautiful Board, the Joliet Youth Task Force, Habitat for Humanity, the Joliet Region Chamber of Commerce, the JJC Foundation, the Cathedral Area Preservation Association, the Pharmaceutical Association, and the Joliet Kiwanis; he served as an Elder of the First Presbyterian Church of Joliet and was a member of Wish Upon a Star and the Moran Club; and

WHEREAS, Kenneth Pritz received numerous accolades during his life, including the Illinois Chamber of Commerce, Business/Retailer/Man of the Year award; the Joliet Chamber of Commerce Outstanding Small Business of the Year Award, 2005; the Joliet Area Historical Society Mary Barr West Award; the Heritage Corridor Tourism Cultural Heritage Award; the Cathedral area Preservation Association Annual Preservation Award; and numerous other pharmaceutical and civic accolades; and

WHEREAS, Kenneth Pritz enjoyed traveling and photography; he was an avid fan of U of I, the Chicago Cubs, the Chicago Bears, and loved spending time with his family; and

WHEREAS, Kenneth Pritz was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond O. and Agnes (Facinelli) Pritz and his father and mother-in- law, Vivian and Raymond Kilgos; and

WHEREAS, Kenneth Pritz is survived by his wife of 56 years, Carol S. (nee Kilgos); his 6 children, Susan (Larry) Bornhofen, Jeff (Laura) Pritz, Jill (Dave) Umek, Anne (John) Doll, John (Annette) Pritz, and Jim (Dawn) Pritz; his 21 grandchildren, Elisabeth (Joe) Adler, Sarah (Jeremy) Orr, Amanda (Tommy) Moretti, Anna Bornhofen, Megan (Joe) Felix, Matt and Vivian Pritz, Stephanie, Adam, Maggie, Nick and Abbey Umek, Julie and Jennifer Doll, Shyla, Ally, Connor, and Taytum Pritz, and Alex, Thomas, and Ava Pritz; his 3 great-grandchildren, Joseph Adler, V, Vivian Orr, and Claire Moretti, with one more great-grandchild due in May; his 2 sisters, Shirley (James-deceased) Monday and Joann (Clare "Monk") Moore; and his many nieces and nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Kenneth LeRoy Pritz, R.Ph., and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Kenneth Pritz as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
