HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to congratulate Fr. Daniel Torson, CPPS on the occasion of his 25th pastoral anniversary and his 10 years of dedicated service at St. Victor's Parish in Calumet City; and

WHEREAS, Fr. Daniel Torson graduated in 1979 from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln with a Bachelor of Music Education Degree; after graduation, he taught elementary and junior high instrumental music in Nebraska City Public Schools and was a member of St. Mary's Parish in Nebraska City, Nebraska; and

WHEREAS, Fr. Daniel Torson served in the United States Air Force from 1982 to 1984 as a saxophonist in the Strategic Air Command Band at Offutt Air Force Base; and

WHEREAS, After entering formation with the Society of the Precious Blood in 1984, Fr. Daniel Torson spent one year pursuing pre-theology studies at Rockhurst College, Kansas City, followed by a year in Special Formation in San Angelo, Texas and 4 years of graduate studies at St. John's University Collegeville, Minnesota, where he completed his Master of Divinity Degree; during his studies at St. John's, he spent one semester in Israel and the Middle East studying scripture and history; and

WHEREAS, Fr. Daniel Torson was ordained on June 14, 1990 at St. James Catholic Church in Liberty, Missouri; during his tenure, he has spent time in various places, including Kansas City and Liberty, Missouri; Rensselaer, Indiana; and Lewis University in Romeoville, where he serves as an Assistant Professor of Theology and as University Chaplain; and

WHEREAS, Fr. Daniel Torson serves as a model of hard work, integrity, and dedication for the people of the State of Illinois; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Fr. Daniel Torson on the occasion of his 25th pastoral anniversary and his 10 years of dedicated service at St. Victor's Parish and wish him continued success and happiness in the future; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Fr. Daniel Torson as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
