HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Mark Johnson, who passed away on December 13, 2014; and

WHEREAS, Mark Johnson graduated from Willowbrook High School in 1966 and received the school's Distinguished Alumni Award in 2012; and

WHEREAS, Mark Johnson was a member of the DuPage High School District 88 Board of Education since 1999, serving as President from 2003 to 2011; and

WHEREAS, Mark Johnson represented District 88 in the Legislative Education Network of DuPage County and as a member of the SASED Board of Control; and

WHEREAS, Mark Johnson supported the District 88 "Building The Future" project to enhance the learning environment for students and he supported District 88 in building futures for students and fulfilling the district's mission of working for the continuous improvement of student achievement; and

WHEREAS, Mark Johnson also served as Deputy Chief for the Villa Park Police Department; he was on the District 45 Foundation, the Kiwanis Club of Villa Park, and the Tri-Town YMCA; he was a council member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Villa Park and a PADS worker; and

WHEREAS, Mark Johnson and his wife, Phyllis, shared a passion for the arts and were proponents of the fine arts program in District 88; and

WHEREAS, Mark Johnson made decisions to ensure a high-quality educational experience for the students of District 88; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Mark Johnson, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That as suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Mark Johnson as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
