HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Rev. Willie Taplin Barrow; and

WHEREAS, Rev. Barrow was born and raised in Burton, Texas; she married Honey Barrow; and

WHEREAS, Rev. Barrow worked as a welder early in her life; and

WHEREAS, At 4'11", Rev. Barrow was known as "The Little Warrior"; she took part in the labor movement, the civil rights movement, and the feminist movement, wherever she saw injustice; she also made her presence known in the political world by going on the road with Rev. Jesse Jackson during his presidential campaigns in 1984 and 1988; she was a delegate to the Illinois Electoral College; and

WHEREAS, Rev. Barrow was not afraid of a challenge; she often volunteered for what no one else wanted to do; and

WHEREAS, Rev. Barrow was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Honey and her son, Keith; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Rev. Willie Taplin Barrow, and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Rev. Barrow as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
