HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Ana Lopez Velez of Aurora, who passed away on December 28, 2014; and

WHEREAS, Ana Velez was born in Matehuala, San Luis Potosi, Mexico on January 22, 1910 to Lazaro Lopez and Prexedis Castillo; in 1928, she moved to San Marcos, Texas and married Miguel Velez; and

WHEREAS, Ana Velez and her husband had 12 children, Valdomero, Santiaga, Margarito, Angel, Esteban, Jose, Benancio, Eufracia "Chita", Santiaga, Pedro, Graciela "Maria", and Bernardina; and

WHEREAS, Ana Velez was affectionately known as "Mita"; she moved to Illinois in 1964 to care for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and

WHEREAS, Ana Velez is survived by her sons, Valdomero and Margarito; her daughters, Graciela "Maria" and Bernardina; her 40 grandchildren; her 106 great-grandchildren; her 66 great-great-grandchildren; and her great-great-great-grandchild; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Ana Lopez Velez, and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Ana Velez as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
