HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate the members of the Rochester High School girls basketball team on the occasion of making it to the Class 3A State Championship; and

WHEREAS, The Rochester Rockets were defeated by the Morton Potters in a hard-fought battle after a terrific season; and

WHEREAS, The team finished the season with an impressive 33-3 record and was ranked 5th in the State heading into the championship; and

WHEREAS, In the postseason semifinals game, they beat the Bogan Bengals 63-60 after a close 4th quarter; a long 3-pointer and free throws in the last 2 minutes and 13 seconds enabled them to advance to the championship; and

WHEREAS, The championship game started off strong for the Lady Rockets, who were leading 23-16 at halftime; the Rockets had a double-digit lead in the third quarter, but the Potters went on a 14-0 run and that momentum carried them to the end; the final score was 47-37; and

WHEREAS, This was the 3rd girls State Championship game in Rochester's history; and

WHEREAS, The hard-working members of the Rochester girls basketball team are Havilyn Dulin, Kylie Clemens, Lyric Boone, Aubrey Magro, Jadyn Zaffiri, Maddie Unser, Nicole Robinson, Sydney Lett, Laryn Sapetti, Meagan McNicholas, Lucy Nuding, Sarni Kearney, Faithe Pitts, Madison Faulkner, and Angela Perry; head coach J.R. Boudouris has led the Rochester girls basketball team for 4 years; the assistant coaches are Lindsay Howard, Brandon Rose, and Ken Teubner; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate the members of the Rochester Rockets girls basketball team for making it to the Class 3A State Championship and wish them many more years of success to come; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the Rochester Rockets girls basketball team as an expression of our esteem and respect.
