HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Andrew
4Cash of Chicago, who passed away on August 17, 2014; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Andrew Cash was born in Chicago on June 11, 1946
6to Welton Sank, Sr. and Mealia Cash; he attended Daniel Hale
7Williams Elementary School and Wendell Phillips Academy High
8School, where he excelled at track and field and was a member
9of the 1962 Wendell Phillips Academy High School State
10Championship Track Team, setting a new record of 53.7 seconds
11in the Junior 440 Yard Dash event, a record that still stands
12today; he attended Eastern Kentucky State University in
13Richmond, Kentucky; he married Patricia Lynn Brown on May 13,
141973; he later married Barbara McGhee on May 17, 1986; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Andrew Cash worked as part of the administrative
16maintenance staff at Provident Hospital; he then delved into
17the world of martial arts, eventually earning the rank of black
18belt; he was head instructor at the Pagoda Martial Arts
19Academy; he was inducted into the World Martial Arts Hall of
20Fame on May 18, 1996; he established his own school, the Unity
21Martial Arts Academy; he was elevated to the rank of Kyoshi
22(8th Dan) and was co-founder of the Midwest United Martial Arts
23Association; in 2004, he established Body Sculpting by Cash; he

1studied with the International Fitness Association and
2received certificates as an aerobics instructor and personal
3trainer with emphasis on step, kickboxing, and group exercise;
4he was also a Certified Sports Nutritionist; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Andrew Cash was inducted into the Wendell Phillips
6High School Hall of Fame in October of 2010; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Andrew Cash was preceded in death by his parents;
8and
 
9    WHEREAS, Andrew Cash was survived by his wife, Barbara; his
10children, Bruce, Patrice, and Patrick; his grandchildren,
11Jasmine Mone't and Kendall Peyton; his siblings, Madeleine,
12Agnes, Melissa, Rosetta, Marietta, and Welton, Jr.; and a host
13of other relatives, martial arts students, personal training
14clients, and dear friends; therefore, be it
 
15    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
16NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
17mourn the passing of Andrew Cash, and extend our sincere
18condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved
19him; and be it further
 
20    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
21presented to the family of Andrew Cash as an expression of our
