HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to honor our esteemed colleague, State Representative Pamela Reaves-Harris, on her service as a member of the Illinois General Assembly and thank her for her dedicated service to the State and the people of the 10th Representative District; and

WHEREAS, Representative Reaves-Harris was born and raised in Chicago's Cabrini Green public housing development; she is the youngest of eight children and the proud mother of two daughters; and

WHEREAS, Representative Reaves-Harris graduated from the Chicago Public School system; she received a Bachelor of Science with a dual major in marketing and economics from the University of Illinois; she earned a law degree from IIT Chicago-Kent College of Law; and

WHEREAS, Representative Reaves-Harris has dedicated her life to giving back to the community, serving more than 22 years as a licensed attorney; she worked more than 15 years as an Administrative Law Judge and provided free legal services to those in need; and

WHEREAS, Representative Reaves-Harris has been a fierce and passionate advocate for criminal justice reform through her efforts to reduce crime and recidivism and keep our communities safe; she championed legislation to help persons who suffer from serious mental illnesses receive the proper treatment, and fought to increase penalties for firearms dealers who sell guns to suspected terrorists; and

WHEREAS, Representative Reaves-Harris fought for the health and well-being of her constituents by working to bring a new medical emergency treatment center to Humboldt Park; and

WHEREAS, All who have served alongside Representative Reaves-Harris will miss her warm friendship and unwavering commitment to advocating for the issues important to her constituents; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we honor and thank State Representative Pamela Reaves-Harris for her dedicated service; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Representative Reaves-Harris as an expression of our respect and esteem, and with our best wishes for her future success.
