HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to congratulate the Marian Catholic High School Women's Volleyball Team, the Spartans, on winning the 2016 Illinois High School Association Class 3A State Championship; and

WHEREAS, The Spartans captured the championship by beating their East Suburban Catholic Conference rivals, the defending State champion Marian Central Hurricanes, at Illinois State University's Redbird Arena on November 12, 2016; and

WHEREAS, The Spartans compiled a record of 32 wins and nine losses on their way to the championship; and

WHEREAS, The Spartans are coached by Ryan Summers; and

WHEREAS, The Spartans are Brittany Grooms, Rachel Churilla, Jordan Piekarski, Nailah Jones, Jaya Hall, Temilade Adekoya, Ashley Sledge, Brittany Barlage, Lauren Hatch, Rose Ybarra, Kaleigh Lester, and Temitayo Thomas-Alira; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate the Marian Catholic High School Women's Volleyball Team, the Spartans, on winning the 2016 Illinois High School Association Class 3A State Championship and we wish them many more successful years; and be it further

RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be presented to the Spartans as an expression of our esteem and respect.
