HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The Illinois House of Representatives is delighted to congratulate Sangamon County Board Member Sam Montalbano on the occasion of his retirement after 28 years of service to the residents of Sangamon County; and

WHEREAS, Sam Montalbano's life has been dedicated to serving his nation; he served during the Korean War, earning the rank of Sgt. First Class; and

WHEREAS, Sam Montalbano's service to our nation continued long after his time in uniform ended by dedicating his life to honoring the men and women in our Armed Services through his work as an officer of the Italian American War Veterans, as a proud member of the Honor Flight Program, and with his service as a Chaplain, working diligently to ensure that his fellow veterans received the proper burials they so rightfully deserved; and

WHEREAS, Sam Montalbano has selflessly served his community through his volunteer efforts at Little Flower Church; he served with the Southern View Khoury League baseball board and as a volunteer for the Sacred Heart Griffin Annual Mostaccioli Dinner, along with many other civic engagements throughout Sangamon County; and

WHEREAS, Sam Montalbano served for the past 28 years on the Sangamon County Board for the residents of District 13; he was a former Chairman of the Road and Bridge Committee and Chair of the Liquor Committee; he served as Vice-Chair of the County Board; and

WHEREAS, Sam Montalbano's service on the Sangamon County Board has had a tremendous impact on the quality of life that the residents of Sangamon County enjoy and he stands as a proud example of how public service can be an honorable path; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Sam Montalbano for 28 years of dedicated service to the people of Sangamon County and we wish him many more years of community involvement as he enjoys his retirement from the Sangamon County Board; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Sam Montalbano as a symbol of our admiration and respect for his years of service to the people of Sangamon County and the greater Springfield community.
