HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to honor Robert Paul Havlik for his many years of service to his country and his family; and

WHEREAS, Robert Havlik was born on October 25, 1923 at his home on the northwest side of Chicago to Ferdinand and Dorothy Havlik; he married Mildred Eileen Moe on May 19, 1951; and

WHEREAS, Robert Havlik attended Farnsworth Elementary School; after their father passed away when Robert was nine, he and his brother, Ferdinand Jr. "Fred", took a paper route to help their mother; he went on to attend Lane Technical High School; he graduated in 1942; and

WHEREAS, Robert Havlik worked at Western Electric as a millwright until he enlisted in the United States Navy on March 12, 1943; after attending basic training at the Great Lakes Naval Training base, he served in Norfolk, Virginia and aboard the USS Bull; after his discharge in 1945, he returned to Western Electric to work as a millwright for the next 44 years and one month until the company closed; and

WHEREAS, On June 8, 2016, Robert Havlik flew with the Honor Flight from Chicago to Washington D.C., which he considers one of his greatest memories; and

WHEREAS, Robert Havlik is the stepfather of Wayne Russell; the father of Patricia Ann; the grandfather of Rene Lynn Corbett and Aaron Daniel Jagelski; and the great-grandfather of Michael Wayne Corbett; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we honor Robert Paul Havlik for his many years of service and wish him many happy and healthy years to come; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Robert Havlik as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
