HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives wish to honor Robert Paul Havlik for his many
4years of service to his country and his family; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Robert Havlik was born on October 25, 1923 at his
6home on the northwest side of Chicago to Ferdinand and Dorothy
7Havlik; he married Mildred Eileen Moe on May 19, 1951; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Robert Havlik attended Farnsworth Elementary
9School; after their father passed away when Robert was nine, he
10and his brother, Ferdinand Jr. "Fred", took a paper route to
11help their mother; he went on to attend Lane Technical High
12School; he graduated in 1942; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Robert Havlik worked at Western Electric as a
14millwright until he enlisted in the United States Navy on March
1512, 1943; after attending basic training at the Great Lakes
16Naval Training base, he served in Norfolk, Virginia and aboard
17the USS Bull; after his discharge in 1945, he returned to
18Western Electric to work as a millwright for the next 44 years
19and one month until the company closed; and
 
20    WHEREAS, On June 8, 2016, Robert Havlik flew with the Honor
21Flight from Chicago to Washington D.C., which he considers one

1of his greatest memories; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Robert Havlik is the stepfather of Wayne Russell;
3the father of Patricia Ann; the grandfather of Rene Lynn
4Corbett and Aaron Daniel Jagelski; and the great-grandfather of
5Michael Wayne Corbett; therefore, be it
 
6    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
7NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
8honor Robert Paul Havlik for his many years of service and wish
9him many happy and healthy years to come; and be it further
 
10    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
11presented to Robert Havlik as a symbol of our esteem and
12respect.
