HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to honor Ed Paesel for his distinguished and dedicated service as Executive Director for the South Suburban Mayors and Managers Association (SSMMA); and

WHEREAS, Ed Paesel began his tenure as only the second Executive Director of the South Suburban Mayors and Managers Association in May of 2000; and

WHEREAS, Ed Paesel is a lifelong resident of the south suburbs; he attended Bloom Township High School and was inducted into the school's hall of fame; and

WHEREAS, Ed Paesel received his bachelor's degree in 1971 and his master's degree in 1973, both from Illinois State University; and

WHEREAS, Prior to becoming the Executive Director with SSMMA, Ed Paesel's home community of Sauk Village elected him into public office for 16 years, the last 12 as Mayor; and

WHEREAS, During his tenure with SSMMA, Ed Paesel was appointed to numerous posts including, the METRA Board of Directors, the Access to Care Board of Directors, the Cook County Workforce Investment Board, and the Land Use Committee for the Chicago Metropolitan Agency on Planning; and

WHEREAS, Ed Paesel was selected to be on multiple gubernatorial transition teams representing the south suburbs; and

WHEREAS, As Executive Director, Ed Paesel oversaw the growth in the services provided to member communities and increases of intergovernmental collaboration; and

WHEREAS, Under the leadership of Ed Paesel, SSMMA was a catalyst for tens of millions of dollars in grant funding for the benefit of member municipalities and their collective 700,000 citizens; and

WHEREAS, Ed Paesel has received numerous accolades and recognitions throughout his career; he is well respected across the membership of the SSMMA and is held in high regard by State and national legislators; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we honor Ed Paesel for his distinguished and dedicated service as Executive Director for the South Suburban Mayors and Managers Association; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Ed Paesel as an expression of our esteem and respect.
