HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate Dr. Matt Gullone on receiving the "2016 Rural Physician of Excellence Award" from the Illinois Rural Health Association; and

WHEREAS, One of the biggest healthcare challenges across the nation is the shortage of physicians who practice in rural areas; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Gullone graduated from the Rural Medical Education Program at the University Of Illinois College Of Medicine in 2006; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Gullone completed his residency at Memorial Hospital in South Bend, Indiana, where he worked for the South Bend Emergency Physicians; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Gullone joined the Midwest Medical Center in Galena in 2009, and since that time, has immersed himself in the community; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Gullone serves as the Galena High School sports team physician, keeping a watchful eye over the student athletes of Jo Daviess County; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Gullone began volunteering with the Jo Daviess County Home Health Board in 2009; he currently serves as president of the board; and

WHEREAS, Family medicine is a "family affair" at the Gullone home; Dr. Gullone's wife, Dr. Beth Gullone, a family practitioner, is dedicated to the community, which makes the couple a great asset to the citizens of Jo Daviess County; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Dr. Matt Gullone on receiving the "2016 Rural Physician of Excellence Award" and commend him on the impact he has made on improving rural health; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Dr. Gullone as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
