HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to congratulate Deborah Ann Simental on the occasion of her retirement from the Illinois State Police on September 30, 2016; and

WHEREAS, Deborah Simental graduated from Cadet Class 88 in 1990 and was assigned to District 3/Chicago; she was then assigned to the Operational Services Command, Statewide Criminal Conspiracy Unit, Zone 1 Investigations, and the Division of Internal Investigation; she was appointed as a Special Agent in 1996; she was promoted to the rank of Sergeant in 1998, Master Sergeant in 2000, and Lieutenant in 2007; she was appointed as the Commander of the Division of Internal Investigation in 2010; she was then promoted to Captain in 2011 before being appointed as Zone 1 Commander in 2013; she was appointed to serve as Colonel of the Division of Internal Investigation in 2014; and

WHEREAS, Deborah Simental was a member of the Illinois Association of Chiefs of Police, the International Association of Chiefs of Police, the National Association of Women in Law Enforcement, the Illinois Homicide Investigations Association, and the South Suburban Chiefs of Police; she helped with events for the Illinois State Police Heritage Foundation and the Special Olympics; and

WHEREAS, Deborah Simental has one daughter, Sarah, and one son, Matthew; she earned her Bachelor of Liberal Arts and Science in 1988; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Deborah Ann Simental on her retirement from the Illinois State Police and wish her the best in all her future endeavors; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Deborah Simental as an expression of our esteem and respect.
