HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives wish to congratulate Westmont Police Chief
4Thomas Mulhearn on the occasion of his retirement after 39
5years of service; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Chief Mulhearn began his law enforcement career in
71974 as a dispatcher for the Broadview Police Department; in
81977, he joined the Westmont Police Department, where he served
9as Patrolman, Detective/Juvenile Officer, Sergeant, Detective
10Division Commander, Deputy Chief of Police, and Acting Chief of
11Police; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Chief Mulhearn was appointed Chief of Police in
13October of 2009; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Chief Mulhearn received the Joseph T. Gutak
15Memorial Award as Juvenile Officer of the year for DuPage
16County in 1998; in March of 2007, he received the inaugural
17Public Safety Officer of the Year Award from the Westmont
18Chamber of Commerce; he was elected President of the DuPage
19Juvenile Officers Association in 2002 and currently serves as
20the First Vice President of the DuPage County Chiefs of Police
21Association; in 2008, he received the Paul Harris Fellowship
22Award from the Westmont Rotary Club; and

1    WHEREAS, Chief Mulhearn is a graduate of Triton Community
2College and completed his basic law enforcement training at the
3Chicago Police Academy in 1977; he has attended training
4classes at Northwestern University, the University of
5Illinois, and the United States Department of Homeland Security
6Center for Domestic Preparedness in Anniston, Alabama; in July
7of 2007, he attended the 230th session of the Federal Bureau of
8Investigations National Academy in Quantico, Virginia; he is
9currently a member of the FBI National Academy Alumni
10Association; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Chief Mulhearn has resided in Westmont since 1977
12with his wife, Joanne, and his daughter, Kelly; therefore, be
13it
 
14    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
15NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
16congratulate Westmont Police Chief Thomas Mulhearn on his
17retirement after 39 years of service and we wish him the best
18in all his future endeavors; and be it further
 
19    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
20presented to Chief Mulhearn as an expression of our esteem and
21respect.
