HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Andrew
4Bollman, who passed away on July 9, 2016; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Andrew Bollman graduated from Walnut High School
6in 1994, where he played basketball, baseball, and served as
7class president; and
 
8    WHEREAS, While still in high school, Andrew Bollman
9discovered a passion for photography, and worked with his
10father to create a small studio and business on the family
11farm; he photographed his first wedding at 16; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Andrew Bollman attended Sauk Valley Community
13College, where he took photographs for the student newspaper
14and served as student trustee from 1995 to 1996; he graduated
15from Augustana College in 1998 with a Bachelor of Arts in
16English while continuing to photograph for their literary and
17arts magazine and taking student portraits for the yearbook;
18and
 
19    WHEREAS, Andrew Bollman traveled home weekly to photograph
20weddings; he worked summers as a photojournalist for the Dixon
21Telegraph, taking images of everything from toddlers strolling

1in the park, to F3 tornados; after graduating from college, he
2opened a photography studio in Sterling, where he captured
3memories and special moments for many families; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Andrew Bollman never turned down an opportunity to
5travel for his business; he photographed a wedding in India,
6where he viewed the genuine spirit of the people despite
7poverty and injustice; he felt compelled to serve his own
8community in a greater capacity and attended law school at
9Northern Illinois University, graduating in 2005; and
 
10    WHEREAS, After serving as an Assistant State's Attorney for
11Lee County, Andrew Bollman built his own legal practice,
12partnering with Bruce Keller in 2015 to form Keller and
13Bollman, where he worked tirelessly to ensure his clients
14received justice and fair treatment; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Andrew Bollman recognized the value and quality of
16his education at Sauk Valley Community College (SVCC)and served
17on the SVCC Board of Trustees for many years, where he served
18as board Chair and was later appointed President of the
19Illinois Community College Trustees Association, serving a
20one-year term in 2015-2016 and lobbied and advocated for
21community colleges at the State level; and
 
22    WHEREAS, Andrew Bollman felt his greatest accomplishment

1was building his family; he married his best friend and
2companion, Rochelle Monteith on June 7, 2006 on the beach in
3Tulum, Mexico; he became a proud and protective father to his
4son, Asher in 2010; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Andrew Bollman loved his family and enjoyed their
6many vacations together while capturing many photos to cherish
7and save the memories; therefore, be it
 
8    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
9NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
10mourn the passing of Andrew Bollman, and extend our sincere
11condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved
12him; and be it further
 
13    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14presented to the family of Andrew Bollman as an expression of
15our deepest sympathy.
