HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Barbara J. "Bubbles" Lewis, who passed away on May 18, 2016; and

WHEREAS, Barbara Lewis was born in Chicago to John and Carrie Bell Scarborough on December 31, 1947; she attended Chicago public schools and Open Door Baptist Church, where she sang with the renowned gospel choir, The Thompson Community Choir, the "Tommies"; she later started her own singing group; she married Lovett Overstreet; and

WHEREAS, Barbara Lewis earned a business degree from Catherine College; she began working at the University of Illinois Hospital and then at the West Suburban Kidney Center as a physician biller; she received several awards and accolades for her efficiency, professionalism, dedication, and tenacity of providing quality service; she became known as "Inspector Barbara" because she was a perfectionist and a problem solver; and

WHEREAS, Barbara Lewis later married Thaddeus Lewis and moved to Calumet City; she traveled extensively, visiting destinations such as New Orleans, New York, Los Angeles, Hawaii, Mexico, the Bahamas, and Florida; she also enjoyed throwing fabulous parties; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Barbara J. "Bubbles" Lewis, and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Barbara Lewis as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
