HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to congratulate John W. Mochel, Jr. on the occasion of his 90th birthday on May 4, 2016; and

WHEREAS, John Mochel, Jr. was born May 4, 1926 in Chicago; his parents are John W. Mochel, Sr. and Ollun Mochel; he married Doris Hawk on June 12, 1948; and

WHEREAS, John Mochel, Jr. attended Downers Grove schools, graduating from Downers Grove High School in May of 1944; the day after his graduation, he reported to the Great Lakes Naval Station; he returned home from the Pacific theater in June of 1946; he later attended Denison University in Granville, Ohio and was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity; and

WHEREAS, In 1957, John Mochel, Jr. became a partner with his father at Mochel's Hardware; upon the death of his father in 1960, he became the sole owner of the business until he closed the store in 1995; and

WHEREAS, John Mochel, Jr. served many years on the boards for the Downers Grove YMCA, the Downers Grove Library, and Citizens National Bank; and

WHEREAS, John Mochel, Jr. is the father of Leslie (Craig) A. Rueckert, Linda (Tom) Paulsen, Cynthia Mochel, and Lawrence Mochel; the grandfather of Adrienne (John) Cozza Moore, Drew Moler (Heather Turner), Amanda (Brian) Calimano, and Christopher (Chad Burgess) Rueckert; and the great-grandfather of Paloma Moore, Jack Moore, and Brienne Calimano; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate John W. Mochel, Jr. on the occasion of his 90th birthday and wish him many happy and healthy years to come; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to John Mochel, Jr. as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
