HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives wish to congratulate John W. Mochel, Jr. on the
4occasion of his 90th birthday on May 4, 2016; and
 
5    WHEREAS, John Mochel, Jr. was born May 4, 1926 in Chicago;
6his parents are John W. Mochel, Sr. and Ollun Mochel; he
7married Doris Hawk on June 12, 1948; and
 
8    WHEREAS, John Mochel, Jr. attended Downers Grove schools,
9graduating from Downers Grove High School in May of 1944; the
10day after his graduation, he reported to the Great Lakes Naval
11Station; he returned home from the Pacific theater in June of
121946; he later attended Denison University in Granville, Ohio
13and was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity; and
 
14    WHEREAS, In 1957, John Mochel, Jr. became a partner with
15his father at Mochel's Hardware; upon the death of his father
16in 1960, he became the sole owner of the business until he
17closed the store in 1995; and
 
18    WHEREAS, John Mochel, Jr. served many years on the boards
19for the Downers Grove YMCA, the Downers Grove Library, and
20Citizens National Bank; and

1    WHEREAS, John Mochel, Jr. is the father of Leslie (Craig)
2A. Rueckert, Linda (Tom) Paulsen, Cynthia Mochel, and Lawrence
3Mochel; the grandfather of Adrienne (John) Cozza Moore, Drew
4Moler (Heather Turner), Amanda (Brian) Calimano, and
5Christopher (Chad Burgess) Rueckert; and the great-grandfather
6of Paloma Moore, Jack Moore, and Brienne Calimano; therefore,
7be it
 
8    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
9NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
10congratulate John W. Mochel, Jr. on the occasion of his 90th
11birthday and wish him many happy and healthy years to come; and
12be it further
 
13    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14presented to John Mochel, Jr. as a symbol of our esteem and
15respect.
