HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives wish to congratulate Mike Fiske on the occasion
4of his retirement as Director of Bands at Joliet Central High
5School in 2016, after 39 years of service in education; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Mike Fiske graduated from Joliet East High School
7in 1972 and Bradley University in 1977; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Mike Fiske has been the Director of Bands at
9Joliet Central High School since 2002 when he became the fourth
10Director of the Joliet Township High School Band at Central
11Campus; prior to coming to Joliet Central, he enjoyed a
12successful career directing high school bands in Illinois and
13Indiana, most recently at Morris High School; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Mike Fiske is a member of the Music Educators
15National Conference, the Illinois Music Educators Association,
16the American School Band Directors Association, the National
17Band Association, and the International Association of Jazz
18Educators; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Mike Fiske was recently honored at the ILMEA
20annual conference with the Mary Hoffman Award of Excellence; he
21was also recognized by Illinois State Senator Pat McGuire for

1his outstanding efforts in leading the Joliet Central Band; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Mike Fiske serves as a model of hard work,
3integrity, and dedication for the people of the State of
4Illinois; therefore, be it
 
5    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
6NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
7congratulate Mike Fiske on the occasion of his retirement and
8wish him continued success and happiness in the future; and be
9it further
 
10    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
11presented to Mike Fiske as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
