HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to congratulate Evelyn Gleason on the occasion of her retirement as Director of the Midlothian Park District; and

WHEREAS, Evelyn Gleason has been a resident of Midlothian her entire life; she attended St. Christopher School and Bremen High School; she subsequently earned her Bachelor of Science in Education from Northern Illinois University in 1970, became a Certified Park and Recreation Professional, and earned her Master's in Public Administration from Governor's State University in 2011; and

WHEREAS, Evelyn Gleason served as a teacher at St. Christopher's Parish from 1970 to 1976 and at Incarnation School in Palos Heights from 1993 to 1997; and

WHEREAS, Evelyn Gleason has served on the District 228 School Board since 1993; she served as the Board's Vice-President from 1995 to 1997 and as the Board's President from 1999 to 2001 and from 2005 to 2007; during her tenure, she has served on every District 228 Board Committee, including the Finance, Labor/Management, Personnel, Policy, Student Services, and Teaching and Learning committees; she was also instrumental in the passage of a Bremen District 228 referendum in 1997; and

WHEREAS, Evelyn Gleason was hired to serve as Director of the Midlothian Park District in June of 1997; as Director, she has overseen the remodeling of all six parks in the district; she was a member of the Mid Mark Water Commission; she was also instrumental in getting a referendum passed in 2002; and

WHEREAS, Evelyn Gleason was the recipient of the Illinois Association of Park Districts "Best of the Best" Award in 2012 in honor of her work with the Midlothian Park District; and

WHEREAS, Evelyn Gleason has two children, Jerry and Bill, and four grandchildren; and

WHEREAS, Evelyn Gleason serves as a model of hard work, integrity, and dedication for the people of the State of Illinois; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Evelyn Gleason on the occasion of her retirement and wish her continued success and happiness in the future; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Evelyn Gleason as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
