HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Marie Patricia Dwyer of River Forest; and

WHEREAS, Marie Dwyer was born in Chicago on December 24, 1925 to Frank and Nellie Walsh; she graduated from St. Angela's School, Trinity High School, and Rosary College; she married Tom Dwyer in 1954; and

WHEREAS, Marie Dwyer briefly taught in the Cicero public school system before becoming a stay-at-home mom; she returned to teaching and taught physically and mentally handicapped children in the Chicago public school system; she earned her master's degree from Northeastern University and finished her career at Shriner's Hospital, helping severely disabled children; after retirement, she worked part-time for Marshall Field's; and

WHEREAS, Marie Dwyer was affectionately known as "Gommy"; she enjoyed walking and delivering shortbread or cookies on her tricycle; and

WHEREAS, Marie Dwyer was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Frank "Bub" Walsh; and her son-in-law, Alan Tillquist; and

WHEREAS, Marie Dwyer is survived by her children, Tom (Martha), Sean (Kay), Mary Jo, Molly (Brian), Liston, and JJ (Maureen); her 14 grandchildren; and her 9 great-grandchildren; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Marie Patricia Dwyer, and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Marie Dwyer as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
