HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to congratulate E. Dean Browning of Godfrey on the occasion of his 90th birthday on January 21, 2016; and

WHEREAS, E. Dean Browning was born on January 21, 1926 in Annawan; he graduated from Annawan High School in 1944; and

WHEREAS, While serving in the United States Army, E. Dean Browning participated in the invasion on Luzon, the Philippines, during a consecutive, 165-day campaign; he was awarded the Combat Infantryman Badge and a Bronze Star for his service; and

WHEREAS, After the war, E. Dean Browning earned degrees from Western Illinois University, the University of Illinois, and Southern Illinois University Edwardsville; and

WHEREAS, E. Dean Browning was employed by the Alton Community Unit School District for 37 years as a teacher, director of adult education, and administrative assistant to the superintendent for vocational and technical education; and

WHEREAS, E. Dean Browning and his wife, Ardythe (nee Machesney), have a daughter, Lexa Linn Browning-Needham, a teacher at Alton High School, and a son-in-law, James Needham; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate E. Dean Browning on the occasion of his 90th birthday and wish him many happy and healthy years to come; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to E. Dean Browning as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
